- - About the Role & Your Impact - -
As a Pipe Layer, you will play a vital role in installing underground utility systems that support communities—water, sewer, and storm drainage. Your work ensures these systems are installed safely, accurately, and built to last. You’ll collaborate closely with equipment operators and crew members to deliver high-quality results on every project.
- - Key Responsibilities - -
Install underground piping systems (PVC, ductile iron, RCP, HDPE) to proper line and grade
Prepare trench bedding and backfill materials according to specifications
Use lasers, levels, and layout tools to ensure accurate pipe placement
Align, connect, and secure pipe sections using appropriate methods
Cut pipe to required lengths and install valves, fittings, and accessories
Follow trench safety protocols and excavation protection standards
Communicate effectively with equipment operators and crew during installation
Assist with material handling, site preparation, and jobsite cleanup
- - Required Qualifications - -
2–4 years of experience in pipelaying or underground utility installation
Proficiency in reading grade stakes and using layout tools (pipe lasers, transits, levels)
Strong understanding of underground utility practices and safety regulations
Ability to perform physically demanding work in trenches and varied site conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly
Strong teamwork and communication skills

High school diploma or GED
OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
Trenching and excavation safety training
Knowledge of soil conditions, pipe materials, and backfilling techniques

This is a hands-on, field-based role with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, and active job sites. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working in trenches or at heights as needed.

- - Pay Details: - - $30.00 to $33.00 per hour
